Celtics Game Day – Mock Season

Coming off a win Wednesday, Celts look to grab their third straight at home vs. the Clippers, fifth overall in this Friday night matchup. Blake Griffin is looking to continue proving himself in the league, especially against a strong Celts defense. Should be a good start to the weekend for the C’s.
Papel-Bon Voyage
So just like that Papelbon’s off to the Phillies. Personally, I don’t like this move at all. Sure he hasn’t been as dominant as he has been in previous years, but come on! He wasn’t involved in the infamous chicken and beer scandal of the century; he was just posted up in the bullpen waiting to do his thing. It just so happened that come September we didn’t enter the 9th with a lead so he couldn’t get out there. I think it’s a mistake to get rid of him. And to the Phillies nonetheless? I mean they’ve been alright the past few years but we don’t need to help them get any better. Questionable move at best. Sox have to come up with something big before April…we’re going to need it.

Thursday Breakdown
Well when you’re right, you’re right. The Bruins are back on track with a three game winning streak and the lockout still hasn’t ended. I guess anyone could have predicted the latter, but nonetheless I’ll give myself a pat on the back.
Elsewhere, not much has been able to shine through the ongoing story over at Penn State. Now, I don’t have too much insight about the situation, but you got to feel for old Joe. I would never stick up for the horrible actions that occurred there, but I mean over six decades of service and overwhelming success for the school and not one of the board of trustees would step up for the guy at all. Kind of sad when you think about. On the other hand that Sandusky guy deserves everything he’s got coming to him. Not enough room in this world for pathetic people like him.
Looming Doomsday
The NBA Lockout: A matter that aggravates just about everyone who enjoys basketball. I’ve been trying to avoid talking about the lockout because in hindsight, nothing has been going on. It’s been an endless cycle of scheduling meetings, “hope” from inside sources, meetings running 15+ hours for three days straight, even more “hope”, then it all blows up within hours and sides are even further apart, repeat. Now I could go into the details about the BRI and the entire CBA discussions but there’s no use. The owners have already won this lockout in a landslide victory. Now they’re just rubbing it in. Chris Mannix (@ChrisMannixSI) of SI.com dives into the details in his article, “Owners to Blame if Season’s Lost”. And on a side note, the second to last paragraph is on point! If a deal isn’t made today, you can kiss the season goodbye.
Celtics Game Day – Mock Season
Celts are set to take on the Charlotte Bobcats at home tonight in what should be a good old fashion beat down. The struggling Cats haven’t seen victory yet in the young 2011-12 season while the red hot Celts are coming off a big W on the road, advancing to 3-0. Unless Charlotte pulls a rabbit out of the hat or suits MJ up for the game, I see this game being pretty much one-sided in favor of the hometown squad.
R.I.P. Smokin’ Joe Frazier
Yesterday was a sad but memorable day in history as we lost one of the most renowned fighters boxing has ever seen. I only wish I was around to have seen him live in the ring. Rest easy Smokin’ Joe, you will be missed but never forgot.
Sunday Woes
I’ve been putting off commenting on Sunday’s game vs. the Giants. It’s not that we lost that I’m aggravated. Although below our expectations, the Pats are still sitting atop the AFC East alongside the Jets and the Bills. It’s not that Brady threw three picks or that Stephen Gostkowski missed a field goal from 4 feet away. It’s the fact that we added to the ever growing ego of “Mr. Close Your Eyes Toss the Ball”. I despise Peyton Manning along with most Bostonians, but we can admit he’s a premier quarterback. I despise Eli Manning along with most Bostonians because he thinks he can fall in the same category as his brother and Brady (and because of some other minor event that occurred which I will chose not to bring up). Regardless, we need to step our game up. The first half was clearly a defensive battle, with the Pats showing signs of life on that side of the ball for the first time all season. Then finally once the offense decided to come around, the defense backed off yet again. It’s only a matter of time before Belichick pulls them together though. Pats vs. Packers in the bowl. In Bill We Trust.

I apologize for neglecting Saturday’s game vs. the Pacers in Indiana. I guess I was too caught up sulking in the continuous cycle of negativity that unravels after each CBA meeting alongside a less than stellar performance Sunday for the Pats. Nonetheless, the Celts come out of Indiana Saturday victorious to pick up their 3rd straight W on this early season before coming back home to take on good ole Mike’s Bobcats on Wednesday.
