Ladies, This Is For You

Hear me out on this guys. We’re going to be adding a new segment to the site…for the ladies. Due to high demand, we’ll be running a section written by the female fan base each month, or week if we must. The opportunity presented itself and we’d love to expand our female audience.  Keep in mind it’s still a work in progress, but what we came up with is this. A continuously running contest, with the grand prize of having your work published on the Boston Sports Blog. That’s a good prize, right? I mean who wants a trip for two to the Bahamas when you can be featured on the best sports blog out there?

Ladies, this is your chance to become a part of the Boston Sports Blog. To have your work forever cemented in Boston sports history. If you have something to say, then let it be heard! Submit your articles to bsb.tips@gmail.com. Remember it’s a running contest so send them in whenever! We promise to read them all and get back to you if your write up is selected to be featured. Stay tuned, our first featured female post will be up today!

Brad Marchand Event Recap

Yesterday, the Boston Sports Blog had the pleasure of joining I Love Boston Sports on the BU campus for an autograph and t-shirt signing with Bruins star Brad Marchand. The event was a complete success from start to finish, with a great turnout of Bruins fans eager to meet their favorite player. Fans had the opportunity to meet Marchand, chat with him, take pictures, and get an autograph. I Love Boston Sports also had their full line of Bruin’s gear on display, with a wide variety of creatively designed shirts and sweatshirts for all die hard Boston sports fans. Not going to lie, the Bru-Tang Clan line of apparel was sick! For most of the event, Marchand actually rocked a sweatshirt with him and the entire team as cartoon drawings, obviously with Brad as the leader of the clan. Anyways, the event was a great success all around. We were all pumped to join in on the event so again, big thanks to the guys at ilovebostonsports.com! Stay tuned for more info in the next week about another Bruins event that the Boston Sports Blog will be a part of!

KG for THREE! Wait, What?

You know it’s a good night for the Celtics when KG’s dropping dimes from the arc. The guys in green flat out embarrassed the Raptors last night, posting a 100-64 victory at the Garden. I mean beating the Raptors should leave no sense of accomplishment, but for the fans that paid only $7 for a ticket to the game, they sure got more than what they paid for. The Celts needed this kind of boost. Although all signs have pointed to this season being a bust, winning in this fashion helps separate us from the lower half of the league, proving that the old men can still ball. Showing the Celtics’ true colors. Not to mention, this game gave the younger guys an opportunity to gain some experience on the floor, with all five starters sitting out the entire fourth quarter. An added bonus, much needed rest for the elders in this compact schedule. The C’s finally broke .500, sitting at 11-10 on the season. It could be a stretch, but I still have faith in this team. Still a lot of ball left to be played. On a side note, Rondo could be back in the lineup tomorrow. Things are looking up.

Sorry Ray, KG’s got range!

Brad Marchand Event Today!

Just wanted to send out a final reminder for you guys who want to come join us with I Love Boston Sports and Bruins star Brad Marchand in Boston today. We’ll be at the Upper Crust on BU Campus at 88 Comm Ave, right across from the Agganis Arena. Try to get there early, should be chaotic. On a side note, the Celts held on to win last night in Cleveland 93-90. I’ll have more on that game after the event today. Come join us!

NY Media Attacks Brady

This is from a few days ago, but I wanted to make sure we got this out there. As I’m sure most know, the Pats had a send off “pep rally” at Gillette the other day before the team left for Indy. At the rally, Tom Brady stated this:

“We have the greatest fans in America. You guys have proved that year in and year out with your support. I wish I could take all you guys to Indy with us. We’re going down there, and we’re going down there for one reason. We’re going to give it our best and hopefully we have a lot more people at our party next weekend.”

Yup, certainly a low blow by one of the best quarterbacks, arguable of all-time. Is anyone surprised that the NY Media tried to spin this on Brady and blow it out of proportion? Not only that, but Gary Myers, writer for New York Daily News tried putting Brady on blast even more so, saying he provided the Giants with bulletin material and comparing his statement to Jerry Jones well planned act of giving his players NFC Championship tickets before the Divisional game a few years back. I think it’s safe to say the Giants are scared. No, petrified. They just have no motivation to win this game, and the New York media knows it. In a pathetic attempt to stir up spirits in New York, the media just gave the Patriots all more of a reason to stomp all over the Giants. Brady’s been there before, he knows the routine. He’s never been one to stir up controversy in the media prior to a big game. Never. New York on the other hand? Jeeze, where do I begin?

Welcome to Boston, Jenny Dell

Think back to November 2011, when things seemed like they couldn’t get any worse for the Sox as rumors of Heidi Watney departing started here on the Boston Sports Blog (Heidi, Say It Aint So!). She even tried covering it up on vacation (Don’t Kill the Messenger). And we all know how that played out. I mean the Lakers? Really? Anyways, since her final days in Boston the buzz about finding her replacement has been pretty quiet until recently. Last night NESN confirmed that former ESPN anchor Jenny Dell will take Heidi’s place as Red Sox in-game reporter. More known for her insight on football, it will be interesting to see Jenny take on a full time baseball role. Either way, the Sox need all the momentum they can get heading into spring training after the disaster that was last September. Hopefully filling the hot side line reporter gap will be just the edge they need. Red Sox Nation, enjoy.

Grief at the Garden

At this point, most people have written off the Celtics. “They’re just too old.” Well I still have faith that not all will be lost this season. There’s still time to turn it around. Regardless, last night’s game was one of the more aggravating C’s games this year. I’m not saying this because they lost to the Cavs, although that hurts too, but because we had the win in the palm of our hands. Up 11 points in the 4th quarter, the Celts let Cleveland go on a 12-0 run to finish off the game and win 88-87 with two seconds left. One single basket would have made the difference. We just can’t score, even against teams like the Cavs who let up close to 100 points a game. Again, our defense is solid. We’re pressuring teams and not letting up easy buckets. Avery Bradley has stepped up big time in Rondo’s absence, constantly down opponents’ throats on defense. The C’s just need to find their rhythm offensively. It’s there, somewhere in the mix of great basketball players in the Celtics lineup. The true test will be how they bounce back against the same Cavs team tomorrow night. After all, they have been hot as of late, winning four straight before losing last night.
