Newcomer Torey Krug has stepped up big time for the B’s these past two games, but it looks like he’s no rookie when it comes to dangling. Apparently the talented defensemen can hold his own on the other end of the ice as well. Here we go Bruins!
Friday Funnies – Hockey Signs

I figured we were due for some funnies, and what better way to get back into it than some classic hockey signs on a Friday after the B’s pull of a big overtime win? Enjoy!
A Reason to Celebrate
Nothing compares to an NHL playoff game. I was lucky enough to be at last night’s Bruins game and it was one of the craziest moments of my life. I swear some of these sickos literally do bleed black and gold. I go to almost every Patriots game and you cannot do the shit you can do at the Garden. I swear every game I get the seat next to the 6 year old kid with his soft father that has the money to spend $350 a seat to watch something he doesn’t have a god damn clue about. This always results in me dropping way too many F bombs for that guys liking. If you and your kid can’t handle it stay home. Or when I got cussed out by a group of 6 females in their late 50’s sitting front row at Gillette this year. Screw that. Give those damn seats to someone that gives a shit. It’s pathetic. It’s not like that at a Bruins game. The Garden is filled with absolute diehard fans getting black out drunk yelling whatever the hell they want. You bring your kid to an NHL playoff game you know exactly what you’re getting yourself into.
How about the shit that went on outside of the Garden after last night’s win? Yeah I was one of those animals pounding on the glass while Felger and Amonte dropped F bombs on live television. Props to the BPD. They let us enjoy the moment. A couple thousand psychos running around the streets of Boston and they just let it happen. Fat dudes ripping their shirt off standing on those stupid T shirt stands making fools outta themselves. It was absolute chaos last night. You pull a stunt like that at Gillette you end up in the drunk tank. The Bruins just bring this city together and it was great to see last night. #BostonStrong #TorontoWrong
Only the Strong Survive
Probably Better on Mute..
For those of you who don’t remember the girlfriend of Alabama Quarterback AJ McCarron that was all over the TV/Internet following the National Championship game, here she is: Katherine Webb. She was Miss Alabama 2012 and is beautiful. Here she is on Jay Leno the other night showing off her intelligence, or lack thereof. This could be watched on mute for obvious reasons, but actually pretty funny and shows how looks can get you places. Stay classy.
How’s the Division Title, Montreal?
With all of Boston in a frenzy over tonight’s potential first round closeout game for our beloved Bruins I would also like to point out what went down in Montreal last night. Last night was a great night in the NHL world as the putrid Canadiens got steamrolled by the seven seeded Ottawa Senators.
Habs fans have been in absolute disgust all week. It got so bad that Tony “The Meatball” Marinaro from Montreals TSN690 radio even suggested that the whole NHL feels bad for his beloved Canadiens. (The guy that Gresh and Zo humiliate on a daily basis). Excuse me? We feel bad for the team that flops around more than fish outta water? Don’t think so meatball. America loves to see you lose. My hatred for the Habs stretches much further than I have ever hated even the Yankees. What the hell do you think The Meatball and the rest of Montreal talks about the rest of the year? Montreal has nothing to root for after the Habs. Unless of course, you’re a fan of 5’6” Molson X drinking hardos. Or the Expos. Right?? Enjoy the division title and your summer. We’ll be going for the real prize.
Wake Up Kessel, It’s Boston
In case you missed it Wednesday morning, Brad Marchand got an unexpected prank wakeup call from a Toronto morning show. At about 7am on gameday, the radio station sent several pizzas to his hotel, and after explaining that it was a pregame ritual of his, had the front desk call Mr. Marchand’s room and wake him up. Not going to lie, pretty funny stuff. As a fan, that’s the kind of witty prank I can handle. In fact I enjoy it.
Completely different than the Toronto Stronger D-Bag from Monday’s game. Anyways, no harm no foul there. But Toronto, I’ll tell you this. You are extremely naïve if you didn’t think us Bostonians would retaliate. I mean not only were you destined to come back to our city the next day, but you have an obvious target for us to go after. Cue…Mr. Phil Kessel.
With little doubt they’d let it slide, WAAF’s Hillman Morning Show took the reins on Operation Retaliation, sending Spaz out to Toronto’s hotel this morning, fully equipped with a megaphone, bright yellow morph suit, and the support of relentless Bruin’s fans. I can only imagine the scene taking place as he yelled and taunted Kessel over the megaphone, with an army of vehicles beeping violently in the background. Absolute radio gold. Unfortunately, it only lasted about 10 minutes before our boys in blue showed up to send the annoying yellow man packing. Either way, WAAF should be posting it as a podcast later this morning so make sure you listen for yourself. Just more fuel for the fire, I love it. Great work guys. Now let’s go Bruins! Puck drops at 7:10 tonight. Happy Friday indeed!
Toronto Stronger Loser
How about this freakin guy in Toronto last night? Grade A douche. I’m all about witty slurs against an opponent, and I understand how desperate Toronto fans are after being completely irrelevant to playoff hockey for so long, but this shit won’t do. That’s not a clever jab at the Boston Bruins, that’s a sucker punch to the face of humanity. Nice job bro, instead of taunting our hockey team, you made fun of innocent men, women, and children that fell victim to a terrorist attack. I would love to see how long this Gangnam-looking jerkoff would last coming into the Garden Friday night. And congratulations Toronto, you poked the bear. #BostonStrong
LeBron MVP
Well the Celtics season is over after a heart-breaking loss on Friday to the cocky and arrogant, New York Knicks. The next few months will really show where this organization is headed with the decisions they face with KG and Paul Pierce. However, this story is not about that. Lebron James won his 4th MVP this weekend. He became the second player to get 120 of 121 possible first place votes. Shaq did it 13 years ago. The lone voter, who decided to back Carmelo Anthony instead, was the Boston
Globe’s Gary Washburn.
To me, this is ridiculous. I know everyone in Boston hates LeBron, but the main reason why he wasn’t unanimous, was because everyone thought he would be. Just so happens that it was a guy from Massachusetts to snub him. We all know that he is the best player in the league and by far the most efficient. If he took as many shots as Melo, he would be the leading scorer, but he is more than that, clearly. Plus, Melo sucked against us during the last 3 games of the series and I really thought we had a chance to steal it from those scumbags.
Kevin Garnett did receive one vote for MVP, but not a first place one. This was enough to tie him for 12th in the balloting.
Red Sox Update

Sensational Sox- After an absolutely astounding start to the season, the Boston Red Sox were swept over the weekend by the red hot Texas Rangers. Boston finished the month of April at 19-8 with the best record in the big leagues.
In this month of May though, things have not been so merry for the Sox, as they are 2-3 in their last five games. Nevertheless, let’s take a look at what’s brought Boston to a 20-11 overall record thus far:
Pitcher Perfect- Ok, so some of the Sox pitching hasn’t exactly been perfect, but Clay Buchholz’ certainly has. Take a look at his April numbers: W/L Record: 6-0 ERA: 1.01 WHIP: 0.96 SO: 47. Buchholz is pitching like a man possessed, more importantly, it would seem he has finally tapped into that potential the Red Sox clubhouse saw in him a few seasons ago.
Jon Lester has also been a monster on the mound this year with a 4-0 record, a respectable ERA of 3.30, a WHIP of 1.17, and 40 SO. Anchored by both Lester and Buccholz, the Sox rotation finds itself ranked in the top ten in the majors at eighth overall.

The Red Sox have a solid team ERA of 3.60 and rank second in the MLB in strikeouts with 287. Boston also ranks fourth overall in batting average against with a .233. While those numbers are impressive, the back end of the rotation and the bullpen need to improve if the Sox want those stats to stick around.
Side Note: I claimed before the season started that Boston’s bullpen would be a strength. Boy was I wrong…dead wrong. However, that’s not to say the pen hasn’t had bright spots in the form of Koji Uehara and Junichi Tazawa, (say both their names five times fast) but improvement is important moving forward this May.
Breaking Out The Bats: The Sox have been simply slugging the baseball so far this season. Boston ranks in the top five or higher in the MLB with a .269 team average (5th), 149 runs (5th), a .347 OBP (3rd), and a .443 SLG (3rd) which lands them fifth overall in team batting.
Newcomer Mike Napoli has had a big impact on Boston’s lineup this year. Nap is currently batting .268 with six home runs and ranks third in the majors with 31 RBI. Meanwhile, the regulars: David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, and Jacoby Ellsbury, have all been contributing as usual.

Ortiz is batting for a .440 average with four home runs and 17 RBI in 13 games this season. Pedroia is putting in another fine season batting .294 with 12 RBI and a team high .396 OBP. Ellsbury is batting .279 with 12 RBI and leads the team in hits with 38.
Also, second year stud Will Middlebrooks continues to shine as he is tied with Napoli for a team high six home runs and has 12 RBI on the year. Middlebrooks batting average of .195 could see improvement, but with “great power comes great responsibility”. The young-gun thirdbaseman just needs better plate discipline.
Side Note: Even more surprising than the Sox stellar start to the season, is the at-bats by Daniel Nava. Nava has spent the majority of his time with Boston as a platoon-type player in the outfield.
This season though, he has been one of the better bats in the lineup. Nava has posted a .286 average, which ranks him second for team average behind Pedroia. He also has five home runs with 19 RBI, which ranks him second in team RBI, right behind Napoli.
Final Thoughts: Despite the recent sweep by the Rangers, Boston remains in first place in the American League East with a game and a half lead over the New York Yankees. More importantly, it would appear after an amazing April, the Red Sox have put the past (2012) behind them and are playing towards a bright future. How do you feel about the Sox start? Where do you see room for improvement? Can they keep this up all season? Leave a comment below.
